Under the Bridge

By DicksPics
Thought I'd have a change from railways to canals!
This image was taken on July 12th on the Shropshire Union Canal.
Six friends plus my wife, Cheryll, and I hired a canal boat for the day to celebrate several birthdays.
This is just one of the bridges we had to negotiate between Norbury Junction and Wheaton Aston( where the pub was, for lunch!!) in Staffordshire.
We had a great day out - the pace - maximum 4mph - was very leisurely!
I prefer the sepia version, my wife prefers the colour one!! What do you think?
What I'm seeing on EPZ isn't what I'm seeing when processing - both versions seem a bit harsh, if that's the right description - hey ho!!
Thanks to all who have viewed, voted and commented on my 'The Jacobite Crosses Glenfinnan Viaduct' upload - I always appreciate all interest and support.
Have a great Tuesday.

Very well composed Richard and much as I love sepia, I think the natural colours work best
in this instance.
I can imagine this being difficult to expose for and process.
Is it possible you've oversharpened it creating what you see as 'harshness'?
I've done it many times!

Very nicely framed shot, Richard, with the sepia version so reminiscent of a days gone by and the slower pace of life that canal boat sailing brings than what most of us are accustomed to now.
I am torn between the two versions myself, so half a vote to you and half to your wifeWinkWink.

Can't decide between them, Richard. As Kate says they appear slightly over-sharpened. I put a soft filter on the colour one but you lose the sparkle then, so I think you've got it just about right.

Two excellent renderings of a terrific scene, Richard, and I go for V1 like Mrs Richard with its atmospheric toning and subdued colours.

Wonderful natural framing and shot, Richard. A little bit of harshness would do no harm sometimes, it makes it appear crystallised and works well here. I like both versions.

Superbly composed Richard like both versions equally as they both work for me.

What your seeing on here not what your seeing on your monitor happens a lot, different monitors will/could show variations likewise different sites will render images differently. Facebook, Flicker which I also pop photos on and they never look the same. One of the things with the digital age loads on the www on how to get around it.
