Rueben on carousel

By HappyBaer
For those of you who like the techie stuff - I wanted to get a flash picture on the carousel, but have some of the background lights to give it context. So I shot with flash to get the subject framed right, and left the shutter open to get some background in (I believe this is known as front curtain slow synch).

I also shot hand held, apart from the difficulty of setting up a tripod in a dark crowded fairground, it means that there is a little more blur in the background due to shake, which I think works quite well!
