The Old Bakery

By HappyBaer
I was inspired to do this after seeing one of Wooly's images. I have always been a great fan of re-enactment events, although I prefer the ordinary day to day recreations rather than the battles, and the idea of making the images reflect the art of the period rather appealed to me.

This one was taken in the old bakery at Kentwell Hall and was naturally lit by bright sunlight through the relatively high window, creating fairly harsh shadows, and making an exposure to get both darks and lights nearly impossible; but having been given an arty look, I thought that it worked quite well. Hi Stephen, thanks for the mention. A nice scene you have here, ballancing the highlights and shadows is always a challenge, as is dragging out the textures without over sharpening.

There are quite a few photographers on here that lead the way with this type of shot, well worth searching the gallery for Beamish and Blists Hill. My other half - AlleyCatz is one of them.
