1663 Shipwreck

Commemorated with the wish that passers by will pray for the victims souls. 1663. Since living in Cascais since almost the middle ages I have known at least 5 shipwrecks. The sea is beautiful but in Winter
the waves are high and the rocks are near.

The name of the ship that was wrecked off Oitavos Fort Cascais in 1663 was “Espírito Santo Pombinha”, I haven't been able to find how many people were lost.

Looks very peaceful hard to imagine rough seas, but it sounds like the seas in the Western Cape in SA . Great shot
