The door of my favourite house in Cascais. It is, unfortunately, very run down and I sincerely hope that it will be restored and kept as it is. I haven't been able to find out to whom it originally belonged to but it is right in front of the Cidadel where King Carlos of Portugal spent his summer months, very happily from what I have heard, and the young princes played with the fishermens' families on the beach. Many nobles and rich
citizens built houses to spend the summer so that they could be near the royals and not far from here there was an exclusive club where they could play cards and and enjoy the summer evenings. This club is now a museum "Museu do Mar" where lots of artifacts are kept from the time that Cascais was only a fishing village.
