Hope your lens survived the onslaught of sand but of course at 600mm. you were some distance away, and for that reason this is a remarkably good shot under the circumstances.
Doubt I would even have seen the bird at that distance even on a clear day.

Excellent detail and clarity, Mike. You can see the sand grains bouncing of its chest, and he doesn't seem at all bothered by being sand-blasted.

Exceptional image. Lovely DoF and capture of movement. Well captured.

But then if it only cam from the side the sun-shield should do the trick.
