The Shard

By HelenHiggs
I made a carefully planned trip to London on Saturday, just for photography. As with all my plans it didn't work out. There were barriers on the Millennium bridge, roadworks all over the Square Mile, scaffolding and tower cranes everywhere, someone parked a council lorry in front of the Bank of England, someone else parked a barge in front of the view of The Shard from St Magnus and my shot of St Pauls from a nearby hidden garden was ruined because they were watering the lawn with a yellow hose on a red hose reel. Yes. In February. I walked over 15 miles and totally underestimated how cold the wind was, but I've got a few minor successes to show for my efforts.

I was happy with this shot as it was one of the few angles you can shoot The Shard at the moment without getting tower cranes, and the sun sneaked out for a brief moment before clouds engulfed the sunset. I barely managed to stay upright due to the hurricane that was screaming through the tunnel under London Bridge, but take no notice of me - I'm grumpy because I'm still tired.
