.....in sure and certain hope

By helenlinda
We went to Northamptonshire on Tuesday for my Aunt's funeral.
I hoped very much to find some fields with rape in flower

This may seem a very strange image to mark the day, but it is the coffin in the ground with the earth and roses that were thrown in over it. The white flower is from my Uncle and the red ones from the children and grandchildren, just as they fell.

The family had chosen How Great Thou Art as one of the hymns.
This verse from it gave me the idea of combining the rape flowers with this shot of the roses

"When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!"

Thanks for looking

Helen

So beautifully done, Helen. Big time.

And I love "How Great Thou Art". Gosh...I haven't thought of it for ages. And now it's going through my head. Love that Smile

Unusual but very beautiful.
I wish more people took cameras to funerals. They are after all a part of a family's history.
Often they are the time when distant relatives come together, too. A while ago an elderly friend asked if I could scan and restore a very battered print of a picture of herself with her brothers and sisters at their mother's funeral. It was the only picture she had of them all together, and the others are now dead.
I think the family will value this one in years to come.

Not a strange image at all, Helen, it's good to be different, and with your inimitable editing technique, it has become very special.
Now, your title holds the one sentence at a funeral that bewilders me. How can hope be sure and certain?
Anyway, that hymn is one of my favourites and I love those words.

our sincere condolences Helen, its odd isn't it how sometimes one soul departs from the world to make room for another. So sad to hear your news.
