Broken door

By helenlinda
I went to look around Stirchley swimming baths this afternoon. To mark the 100th anniversary of its opening in 1911 it was open to the public today.
It is now to be converted into a new community centre.
When I was at Westhill College 40 years ago training to be a teacher, we came here as part of our PE programme to learn how to teach swimming.
Today was a wonderful opportunity to take rusty, broken and decayed shots, and this is the first of them.
It is a broken door to one of the changing cubicles.
I love how the light has fallen across the open door and created a curved shadow where it has split .
Thanks for looking
Helen

This is fabulous! I'm particularly taken with the shadows and that jagged, broken line. It has a Dalí quality.

Definitely surreal and the Surrealist, a hint of Man Ray as well as Dalí. The door latch is like an oblong face with tongue sticking out . . . Beautifully seen.

Clever shot Helen. It looked very 'modern' in the thumbnail so was surprised to open it up and see this. Hope you had fun looking around.

Helen, its a very interesting departure from your style and it didn't stand out as you... having said that its a fab image and I can see the shape of a cat with the latch as the tongue. Great image..

Incredible how such a simple thing as a damaged door can be seen to be a great photo opportunity, with line, form and shade that looks like a deliberate creation of modern art. Very good eyes you have, Helen, I would never have spotted this.
