Dad's Lamp

By helenlinda
When Tony's Mum downsized to move into a flat she passed on a lot of things to her children. I asked for this lamp as it had always been in the room we had slept in. It was given to Dad when he was involved with the Gang Show in Bristol. Dad was a County Commissioner for the scouts and received an OBE in 1987 for his work with them. The lamp was made at the same time as a large number of mugs for fund-raising. I was told that it was in a similar design as the mugs, but I doubt if they had holes in them or they would have lost a lot of coffee.
Thanks for looking

Hi, I award it for your imagination and your nice presentation.

Two little suggestions. try it in black and white, and use an extension cable to power the lamp (if the socket is far away) so you turn the lamp freely and you hide its cable from the frame.

Very thoughtful compositions, interesting, well taken images and a well presented triptych, Helen!

What a beautiful lamp... love what you have done with the image.
I would like to see something different in that middle frame
Thinking perhaps just the magnifying glass..
I feel the base of the lamp a wee bit on the heavy side and detracting from the lamp itself
Does that make sense?

What a lovely lamp to inherit Helen. I liked Pablo's advice as I have sometimes struggled to position a lamp also -
never thought of a longer lead! I do like the use of the magnifying glass also. I'll tuck that idea away!

How nice that the lamp is with you after all of this time. It's also nice that you can use it and show it to us in the form of a still life image. Super.

So many things I like about this Helen. Your arrangement is very different from the usual still life and all the more interesting because of it. The use of the magnifying glass is an excellent idea. The overall colour and toning are also excellent.
