If only ..............................

...............the cat hadn't chased the robins away.
For three years we have had robins nest and lay their eggs in the garage. The first year they successfully reared their young. For the past two years a cat has somehow got into the garage and chased them away - these were left abandoned in the empty ice-cream container on the top shelf.
Last year my son suggested that we try to persuade the robins not to nest there. I felt that was interfering, but I wonder if they come again if it is perhaps best to do that

Many thanks for recent clicks and comments and particularly to Chris for her User Award for By the window 2 - much appreciated SmileSmile

Great shot! I'd let the robins come back. Maybe a repellant to keep cat away?

A beautiful treatment, Helen. Can you move the nest a bit so it is in a protected spot?

Each year Christina they choose a different place in the garage to build their nest - I don't think for one minute the cats could get to the eggs, but I do think they could catch the birds SadSad

V2 for me Helen - lovely image. As an RSPB member I would say let nature take its course and not interfere - the Robins would have gone and nested again elsewhere provided they had not been caught.
Interesting cat predation info HERE

How sad, Helen, but I would seriously look for a deterrent for the wretched cat, and not the robins. Beautifully captured and presented. Carol

To deter the cat is probably the easier option, what a shame - I just cannot decide between the images so they share my vote. Beautiful treatment Helen. Carole

Makes a wonderful texture image.
How sad for the Robins though, they only have
two or three chances per year.
Lovely as cats look, this is why I have never wanted one.

What a shame! Cats doing what they do naturally but pests all the same!
Two most beautiful images here Helen - I really cannot choose which one I prefer - so my Award this week goes to both of them!
Well done!

Congratulations on the HC, just seen it come up. I was in a hurry earlier - this is beautiful and sad, the nest seems to be fading into the past.
Our robins regularly nest in a conifer where I know they are vulnerable to cats - I'm not sure what I could do to suggest they look for somewhere safer!

I like both and it is very hard to decide between the two. I think V2 probably gets it because of the colour.
Two beautiful shots with a bit of a sad story, I hope they return and have more success.
