Motion

By helenlinda
What a day for a funeral !!!!
The journey to Finedon in Northamptonshire started with rain, but there were clear patches. We had hailstones at the burial, but the journey back was in very heavy rainSadSadSad

I've been looking for "motion" images for a competition and this afternoon gave me lots of opportunitiesSmileSmileSmile as Tony did the driving. SmileSmileSmile

First of all there are the cars ahead of us on the motorway, shooting up spray. Then the wipers on the car attempting to help visibility. But the cherry on the cake has to be the way the raindrops then travel to the side of the screen creating pathways. It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I was fascinated with the patterns that they created
Thanks for looking and for recent clicks and comments

Just the red lights showing in a world turned grey. I've looked out at that sort of view so often and regretted my camera bag being in the boot... Brilliant. I love the way the two planes combine to create a composition.

Not a trace of colour-popping, just umpteen shades of grey and a splash of red. I like this very much, Helen. It is a very attractive effect.

Thanks Malc - no digital manipulation at all, which is unusual for me I know, and usually my "staight" photos do very poorly - but hey ho, I like it SmileSmile

This is just excellent Helen. The drama, the b/w, the dots of colour.... and beautifully composed and timed to avoid the wiper but so we get two types of wet. Love it.

.... milk, no sugar Grin.

Excellent capture of an all too familiar scene. Shades of grey with red highlights is a superb combinaton, and the sweep of the wiper gives a great diagonal.

The contrasting clash of water patterns on the car screen look great Helen but that car in front was the master touch for me. It pulls everything together.

right from the road nightmare. Do the dear departed really wish that we drive endless hours in the rain?
that is exactly what you feel like when you are working hard to stay focused. Driving and staring at road signs, endless roadworks , hoping that the OH looks occasionally at the signs. In case I miss them. And when he drives, I try not to miss anything.
we should have gone to Leeds for a funeral. I wasn't keen, not at all. Glad I escaped the thing I dreaded and see in your picture, 16 -18 hours of motorway in the rain, only interrupted by 2 hours of ferry. I think I'd rather say a prayer in the garden and plant some flowers.

You timed this to perfection Helen, with the car ahead and the bank of red lights adding a splash of colour to the otherwise grey day. I really like the patterns from the lines of water radiating out across the windscreen - a creative and very interesting image. Well thought out and captured!

Unless I read the write up I would say nice use of selective colouring. But the shot is exactly as it was. Brilliant!

This is a brilliant piece of photography. The intersecting lines, the abstract pattern of the rain, and those red lights barely showing through.....excellent all around.

I just am glad I wasn't driving in it!

Looks and sounds like the day we went to Chester Zoo and abandoned the idea! Never thought about getting the camera out of the bag to shoot anything like this, but a great job done here, Helen. Almost monochromatic but for the splashes (no pun intended!) of red Wink

Clever point of focus Helen and good detail in the rivulets of rain on the screen. The red lights are important as they give the eye somewhere to settle upon.
