Stunningly beautiful and very thoughtful.
Unfortunately the idealism is fairly shallow at the moment. I was at Alnwick Castle Thursday night, for the reception for the Torch's arrival in Northumberland. An hour and a half roadshow, which apparently accompanies the Torch everywhere - high-pressure advertising for Coca Cola and Samsung, thinly disguised as (crass) children's entertainment. 'Hold your smart phone in the air. If you haven't got one, why not? Go and bully your parents for one...' And this in front of a couple of thousand children, many from fairly deprived communities... It seemed such a wasted opportunity, it could have been used to showcase local school bands and choirs. There weren't even any Northumbrian smallpipes in use...

The Olympics presents such amazing opportunities for our young people - how sad to miss them Moira. We were thrilled with the opportunity to enable our children to focus on life-long values and the real spirit of the games, and to learn through these opportunities.

There has been a very helpful move recently to the "Creative curriculum", rather than studying subjects in isolation and the children are so animated by it. You can imagine the enthusiasm of Y5 discovering a tomb in the basement at the beginning of their topic on the Egyptians, and Y6 finding an unexploded bomb in the playground as they started WW2 studies. What you make of the Y1 class finding a dinosaur egg in the adjoining park is another issue all together WinkWinkWink

You should have shown this to the Olympic Committee for use in their promotions - this is far better than anything I have seen them produce.... including their logo. Brilliant work, Helen.

Thats a very sad tale. Sorry to hear. But the pic is excellent and well thought through. Those are the ideals we all aspire to which are portrayed in your photo. Paul
