Autumnal Beech Wood

By Heliopause
I recently visited this Beech woodland in Surrey, a small patch just off the road from a busy junction. The contrast could not have been any different. The ground was covered in a carpet of brown leaves and the leaves on the trees were a mix of red, brown and yellow. A challange to capture the beauty of the place, I used a wide-angle lens to get this shot but I hope to revisit the tomorrow before it all changes.

Thanks for looking.

I like this sort of best at this time of year as the canopy thins and the full colours of autumn develop. The regularity of pattern and the almost perfect symmetry all add up too to make an interesting and appealing image.
