This is a great shot with excellent treatment to enhance the, already, eerie atmosphere. The rot and decay of the room set off beautifully by the broken ceiling panels in the foreground which lead you into the shot to the upright piano - itself having seen better days. The slow shutter speed casting the figure into an ethereal blur is a master stroke and the composition spot on.

Eerie, atmosperic and fantastic!

Well done Helen.

I,m actually quite amazed at how this sanatorium also looks similar to the one I photographed in Scotland and uploaded ages ago, wonder if they felt the inmates needed some kind of similarity in surroundings !

I just been to find your images of the sanitorium and yes very very similar, same windows, we too found intact sofas, chairs and the piano amidst falling down walls, floors and ceilings.....such a waste of beautiful buildings though.....not for us..

Excellent shot Helen and love your processing which suits the mood well.
Looks like this could do with some tidying up of the white at the foot of the piano. If I'm guessing correctly, this is where the HDR doesn't have detail in the shadows even in the brightest verson of the image and so decides to annoyingly invent horrible bright white sparkles instead. I think the setting for shadow clipping may help, but always worth overlaying the original shot with a mask, so you can fix little bits like this. Huge apologies if this really was splashes of white paint!

It isn't hdr as such, its Lucis art, so its just the one image, no brightening of piano......and it is white paint all over the piano leg, it was in hell of a mess lol.... Wink
