Lovely muted tones and the surprise guest certainly adds that something special. Great stuff!

Just about to salivate until I saw the grasshopper. Very neat work though. Like it.

Is it a tad too muted and soft, especially around the knife? Oh and the guest looks as though he might leave any minute, turn him round? for more impact from his eyes looking at the feast?

I still love it though,

I like the soft tones. I think I'd prefer port instead of insect with my stilton though!

Love it, grasshoper and all, if I were to fault it,it would that there is no beer in the pewter Darn. Great still life though.

Wonderful composition again.
Where do you get hose rolls? They always look yummy.
Hope your guest didn't eat all your feast.

Thanks everyone - glad I kinda got it right - I suspect I'll be trying again tomorrow Smile

I'm sure the Locust will make an appearance again. I confess he is an ex-locust ie. deceased. I had bought some a while back with a view to doing some macro pics but sadly my lens packed up the same weekend. I passed the chaps on to someone who could look after them better than I can but did ask that if he had any deceased beasties whether I could have one or two. The other day a box appeared on my doorstep with a few little bodies and I'm making use of them before they have to be disposed of. Sad yes, but such is life, and death!

Sadly I have neither port not beer in this house - only vodka - and I wasn't about to fill the tankard with that!

Oh Kate, the rolls come from Tesco - and the one I didn't use for pics was munched immediately Smile
