Mount Leinster

By Hilmar
I took this photo just before sunset when there was some nice side lighting. I just liked the way the cloud was sitting on top of the hill.

There's not much I'd want to change here.

There's quite a lot of sky, some of which goes if you crop it to an 8x5 but otherwise, I think I'd leave it alone.

Nice scene. I would crop a bit of the sky, the featureless bit and run the dodge tool over some of the heavier shadows.

It is a nice shot overall. There is another way to look at it though, since your interest was the cloud on the mountain.

When I look at at it from your perspective, I find the front post a barrier, and too close to the the right, so I would have tried a landscape format. The alternate is to crop to a square format, feature what you want while retaining the light and leading line.

Ive uploaded a mod to show what I mean. Its small, but if you worked on the original it could be possible.

Thanks to all for your comments. I like the mods especially the square crop. I would not have thought of doing that.

there is some lovely light here and i too like the cloud over the top of the peak. i wonder however if i may have gone over to the right onto that pathway in an attempt to try and get the otherside of the fence and post.
whilst i like the post and the side lighting on it, im not so sure about the mesh fence.

if you had managed to get over to the right, the ridge leading the eye into the horizon would have been lit instead of being on the shadow side and may have been quite striking. also looking further into the scene it looks as if you had advanced further down the trail, the light is hitting the slopes in front of the main peak and that could have been interesting too.

i particularly like the way you have caught the light is raking across the tufts of grass and not been tempted to overexpose.

i agree with the mod which reduces some of the blue above the cloud to bring attention back to the cloud and i also like willies square mod too.
