In the 1800s they extracted marble but on arrival in London it had thawed and all they had was dust.inspirational portfolio you have.

As a 'silver surfer' have made the rather hard decision to change from 7 years of Canon DSLR with an assortment of lenses, to a Panasonic FZ1000. OK, the latter isn't a DSLR but in my books is the best bridge camera around right now (Spring 2015), and I wouldn't like to think how much the lens would cost if sold as an interchangeable one....Leica Vario Elmarit 25-400mm f2.8-4. Excellent in low light....
Am still getting used to it, but I have to say that it really rocks, and the EVF (which I've never liked on bridge cameras) is superb! Panasonic have really upped their game here; now I have to learn all it's quirky but very efficient and useful little ways, and try to 'up' mine, too Wink

Having reread this 6 years later, still holds good but for the last 2 years have been using Sony RX10/4 which is a wonderful camera, 600mm zoom Zeiss lens and 1” sensor. Top kit for birding and insects/butterflies.

Thanks so much, Malcolm, Eileen, and Fred, for your kind comments on my PF. Very glad you like the photos. I'm a bit of an obsessive regarding ponds, they can provide so much wildlife in a very small area! Frogs, newts, dragonflies and damselflies just for starters, as well as the occasional lily.

What a truly lovely portfolio Dave - full of charm and interest as well as great captures. I found your info re- Panasonic so useful as I'm seriously thinking of upping my game to a CSC/mirror less/4/3rds camera. Does your Panasonic come into that category? (Why they have so many names for them I don't know). Would I find it too complicated I wonder? Scared to take the plunge! 😱😳😀📷👀

Thanks so much folks for the kind words! They are much appreciated indeed. I left EPZ for a couple of years for 'another site' but am back now as that site now just sells gismos with your photograph on and you can't even enlarge the original image any more.
