This study came about during my first venture into ....Painting With Light......during which the tripod fixed camera is used in the dark and the only light source is a powerful torch:

I had to take a whole series of shots before I got rid of complete White Outs or Black Outs....the whole procedure is a balancing act between Shutter Speeds and Exposure EXIF will give you my settings for this shot:

Before commencing I had read about, then watched YouTube videos od the technique....a very interesting ne, especially now that the nights are drawing in:

I learned that I might have to mask the very powerful Daylight-bright beam of my current torch with a a smaller penlight version:

It was all good fun and a very steep learning curve:

I have not tried this but guessed it was a torch for the lighting before I read your notes.
You could try and get the centre of the light on the head.
