I like the nostalgic atmosphere that you have captured with this one, both versions are good but I also agree with you that the colour one has the edge in this case.

I find the colourful reflections on the engine distracting from the driver (there is always one isn't there?)

This is one where I have to go with the color, as much as I enjoy a good mono image.
The reflections and tones of the color are super.
The composition is also very appealing.Very good.
