Look who made my day!

By Holmewood
Thank you so much for the votes and comments on m last upload. Special thanks to Bill (Rookery), Jo (jocas), Fred (Badgerfred) and Peter (ddofelin) for your lovely User Awards.

We went up to the hide today and had some beautiful visitors. I was so happy to catch this Kingfisher which I think is a female as there is a light bit on the under beak but please correct me if I am wrong. V1 and V2 are, I believe, Meadow Pipits but again I could be wrong so please let me if I am. V3 is 'I have no idea'. At first I thought it was a Meadow Pipit but it's beak is different and it has dark legs. Can anyone help identify it please. Hope you like them

I will be away for a week as we are off to Ireland to see my sister and cannot wait.

Have a great evening.

Cathy and Stan

Your lead is just the perfect capture of a Kingfisher Cathy, pin sharp, outstanding detail and the BG is uncluttered. Gosh, I wish I had taken this, well done. The others in the series are all excellent too.

An absolute stunning set Cathy, I think your right with the Meadow pipits, the last one at first glance I thought was a Twite, not 100% sure, maybe someone has a better clue than my guess...

Cracking Kingfisher shot (you must have an award Smile)
Meadow pipit yes, and I'd go for twite for V3 too (another thought was a linnet but there's no red and the beak is not as big).

Lovely little set you have there.

Your Kingfisher is a male - females have a very distinctive red lower mandible.....

The final shot is a juvenile Lnnet, although it can be difficult to distinguish LBJ's (Little Brown Jobs) in their winter togs.....
