Nuthatch

By Holmewood
Thank you so much for the votes and comments on my last upload. Special thanks to Jeff (kojack), Brian (brian17302), Dave (Granddad), Dave (HobbitDave), Alan (Alan_Baseley), John (lost_in_colour), Peter (Mollycat), Geoff (nikonphotographer) and Patty (pentaxpatty) for your lovely User Awards on my robin. Thank you also to Patty (pentaxpatty) for her User Award on my GSW. You are all so kind.

We went up to the hide today and I was so pleased to catch this Nuthatch in flight. Nuthatches have dug out a hole in a tree right next to my hide (see the versions). I am sure I saw GSWs make the hole last year but nothing happened. I had to wait until the Nuthatches had flown off to take photos as it is so close and I didn't want to disturb them. They are so busy. Cannot wait for the young to hatch - fingers crossed.
Hope you like them.

Cathy and Stan

Excellent lead image Cathy. You will be using a macro lens when they start appearing out of the hole.

Beautiful in flight capture Cathy, if they are nesting in there too, should give you some great opportunities for pictures

Nice shot Cathy.
Re the hole it is a woodpeckers hole, Nuthatch's don't make holes.
They use existing holes and make the entrance smaller by plastering it with mud.
V1 looks like it has mud in the hole, keep your eye on it, too early for breeding yet.
