Chris i put the raw file through photomatrix on its own and it created a psudoHDR, i'm not sure how many EV stops this uses but the effect has worked well Smile

Absolutely.... just control your HDR... i.e. bracket instead pf psuedo HDR,

Be careful when usiong micro contrast and smoothing in Photomatix.

Very dramatic shot Iain with nice tonality and drama. The HDR halo is there but feel in this instance it adds to the atmosphere of the shot.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, having looked again at the original raw file the halo was going to be unavoidable as there is a halo in the original picture i feel this was due to sunlight reflecting off of the snow on top of the hill

That tiny insignificant person makes all the difference and gives the shot scale, possibly adds to the comp too, Rod
