Cypriot Silhouette

By iaingilfillan
Taken early in the morning in Northern Cyprus. I really like the dusty colours in this silhouette. I've no idea what the structure is for but it looks like some sort of lookout tower. All comments welcome.

Cracking shot. As it the north side of Cyprus, the side that Turkey have claimed for themselves in the invasion of the early 1970's (when they destroyed everything including peoples houses and old churches among them), it's probabley a look-out tower. You can actually photograph the ones in the capital Nicosia through a gap in the dividing wall that seperates North & South. They also have a wall dedicated to those who are still missing from that invasion where they have photo's of them on it. I took about 150 shots three years ago on a digital compact but deleted them all by mistake and I was gutted.
Great crop to this one too.
Sorry for banging on.

Thanks for the info Tony. Cyprus has such a chequered history doesn't it? All very interesting.
