Went to Cuba few years ago and got loads of shots like these as well. Particularly like V6 but all are really nice of these Frankenmotors, called this because there is little of the original American cars left and they are all cobbled together from whatever they can get to work on the car.
Thanks for the C and C's guys. The zoom blur was to try and deemphasize the slightly cluttered background in the dining room where this was being taken and the levels and saturation are, according to the histogram spot on - no clipping and saturation on zero.
I think that what you have is a LOT of flare. This is caused by light bouncing around the inside elements of the lens and not being able to be focused on the CCD/film. The lens could also have been dirty or wet which also has this same effect. Clean your lens and try to make sure that you do this regularly and carefully if it's raining. Hope this helps
