nicely done considering that you are using the standard short zoom - unaided I assume? No tubes or CU lens.
Quite sharp too. I often comment of sharpness and am beginning to wonder if slight fuziness is a function of the medium - internet, compression, JPEG etc.
I try and give the final image after size reduction a slight unsharp mash to increase crispness, but you have to be careful not to over do that technique.
I do note that the slightly more contrasty images always do look that tad sharper?

Yes, it was unaided, just the standard lens, hand-held. The only mod on this was the unsharp mask which helped improve it a little. I normally always tend to use this on almost all my images
Another thing I did was use the flash, set the speed of the shutter to 100 and the aperture to F16 for this shot. The bee's eyes caught the flash - although no red-eye
