That time of year again!

25 Dec 2008 11:26PM   Views : 395 Unique : 337

In a constantly changing world, when I look back as long as twelve months I find that I'm not doing much the same as I was a year ago. And, if I'd tried to predict what I would be doing now, I would have been wildly off the mark. And I guess if I try to look into the future now, I will end up with the same results in another twelve months and be just as far off target!

That is not because I'm inconsistent, far from it. My aims are pretty simple in everything I do. I try to earn a reasonable living, keep people happy and not upset the applecart too much. Shouldn't be too difficult, should it?

In the last year I've written less but taught more, bought less but sold more and taken less images but kept more. Some of the things I have done I would never have guessed about back then. And some of the things I intended to do never got to see the light of day. I never got to Photokina, never photographed the Kingfishers breeding behaviour or the Red Deer rut and never got near any of the Greek islands that I had intended to visit.

I've ended up with a dog that (initially) I didn't want, that has turned into my constant companion and manages to convice me I need to go out at least twice a day, come rain or shine, without ever seeming demanding. On the other hand, we've lost a teenager who always seemed like it when for once he did what I asked and got up off his a$$e and moved to the States entirely off his own initiative! I hope he doesn't think he's coming back for the dog!! Wink

One thing is for sure... life is unpredictable. Sat in my office right now updating things, I couldn't have predicted my circumstances this time last year. But in it's own exciting way, life has a lot of things in store which by their own unpredictability makes them all the more fun.

Didn't you just tell me you don't own a computer any more?
