Another great shot. I like the way you have used the tree to frame the image.

Rick, I gave you my comment on "that other site" but I'll give the image a vote on here!

    Thanks for the comments, folks.

Andy - nice to know you'd been looking at my images previously and remembered it.

CSuk - Hadn't thought about the windows on the phone. Good point.

Blimey! What do these robins feed on? This one looks as though he's been really stuffing himself! Nice shot - good compostition and textures.

  • Robin at Eyam by ianbutty

Thank you all for your comments. It was a bit of a lucky shot as I had the camera on trip with a 300mm lens on it to do some architectural details when the robin just landed on the nearby gravestone.

  • River Cottage by Scaramanga

I hope you don't mind a slightly more negative comment. I can see why others like this image the colours, the interesting texture and everything, but to be pefectly honest I'm not over struck. I think for me it appears a little too grainy/too textured and is perhaps a little more contrasty than I like to see. The cottage is lost a bit within the image. But this may be by design and I may be the one missing the point.

The image reminds me of an impressionist painting, which is probably why so many others like it and I'm a bit luke-warm about it. I can see why some like the impressionists but they do nothing for me.

Hope you don't mind this comment - thought you might like to hear a contrasting view.

  • Maya at Samphire Hoe by colmar

I like the shot, but was just about to comment about the lead but then spotted that Peter has beaten me to it. It is a tad distracting... might be possible to clone it out in photoshop?

It is good that background is out of focus (good depth of field) but if you could have found a location where the background was a uniform colour it would have made this good shot even better. The line of green going behind the ears looks a little odd.
