A new member for eight years!

I posted most of this in the "Introduce yourself forum" earlier today but having just upgraded to E2 membership, I think it probably fits better as my first blog entry on the site. (So please forgive the repitition if you have already seen this in the forum).

I joined the ephotozine site (according to my profile) on 1st November 2001 - almost 8 years ago. But I've not really been active here all that time... the only thing I appear to have done is post one question in the forum some years ago.

In those 8 years I've recieved the emails, I've occaionally visited the site, read reviews etc. But I have never been active. Never posted a photo, never updated my profile, never given myself an avatar.

I'm hoping that from today that will change. It's a long story but following some problems at flickr (I may post about some other time) I've been looking for an alternative site where I can post photos, get feedback, offer a little feedback myself and to make contacts with other photographers.

The proverbial lightbulb went on over my head today and I decided to look (in detail) at what ephotozine has to offer. And I have to say, so far, I am impressed. I've uploaded a couple of photos and had positive feedback on them (always good for the ego!), started posting comments (one of which has been flagged as a constructive - so I must be on the right lines), I've updated my profile and now here I am posting in the forum.

I just have one question... Why the hell has it taken me 8 years to realised what a good resource this site is??

Hi Nick, thanks for the welcome, been doing theatre photography for a while now... only problem is getting paid bookings. All the local theatres appear to have got their photographers and I'm finding it difficult to get my foot in the door. The one regular booking I have is an amature theatre which I'm a member of.... and as a member I can't charge my full comercial rate!
