Hi Ian, as you've probably noticed, portrait photography gets an unpredictable response on epz - ho hum. That said I'm surprised you didn't get 1 or 2 clicks at least!
I can see from this image, a well taken portrait - well focused and a nice composition. It might be worth trying blending this image, as a layer on top of the original (you obviously enjoy photoshop to have got this far), and then try some of the blend modes, eg soft light or overlay, adjusting the opacity also to fine tune.
I for one would be interested to see the result - somewhere in between this upload and the original.
