Quote:Cracking shot Bang in focus and well captured. May I make a kind suggestion, by removing what you describe as the jessies may help to promote this image as been taken in the wild . Kind regards Mickey

Thanks for the comments. I could have taken the jessie s out but as this bird was a captive bird I didn't want to mislead people into thinking it was wild.

  • young dipper

Thanks guys. I had to go to 1600iso because of the light being low where the dippers were.

  • You watching me?

Quote:Great capture. There's loads of them around here, saw 2 of them chasing each other up a tree this morning.

Some people have all the luck, we're lucky if we see one, once in a blue moon. We have plenty of the other kind though!

Quote:A little more bird and a bit less surroundings. How does it look if you crop it a bit?

I have done quite a big crop on it already and don't think it will take much more.

  • Siskin female

Quote:I'm all for showing birds in their environment, Iain, but it only really works photographically when their surrounds are interesting. Like the kingfisher sitting in the flowering bush in your portfolio, for example. Here the siskin, which admittedly is a beautiful bird, looks a bit lost and I am not sure the tree branches add much.

In my mod I have cropped your shot and upsized, so there is a bit of loss of quality. I have cloned out a branch in the foreground. See what you think.

I have a crop I did which is similar to the one you have done but went with this one.

Thanks to everyone for the comments, it's nice to have somewhere to bounce these things around.

Thanks for the comments. It is a bit dark as where it was taken is in a lot of shade and I think this tricked the meter and me.
