Morning Everyone !

Many thanks everyone for all your comments & votes on yesterday's CAMOUFLAGE !

Something different today, here's an image from early Thursday morning. This is one of the first Rally car's to come through, the weather could'nt have been any worse. But then it always is for the Wales Rally. Was'nt easy trying to hold an umbrella, keep the camera & lens covered etc and try to get a shot in such terrible conditions. Anyway, this is one that I've got to share with you. Hope you like it ?

Another dreadful day again, hoping for better weather tomorrow for the final run of the Rally, if not, I'm not going through all that again.

I'm envious, despite the conditions. This shot has so much atmosphere (literally, I can feel the cold and damp).

The time of day, hanging onto a brolly and ghastly weather certainly helped make this, no matter how much you had to juggle!! Great action image.

Thanks Barbara !

Will have to now won't I !

My other half is out right now trying to work out which way they are going to come this afternoon, but if the weather improves tomorrow, will go and have another go - it's asking a lot of any camera to get any type of shot in such conditions !

As you are one of the best photographers whose work I have seen on this website, it goes without saying that I think this photograph has been technically well-taken. (However, in that case, what did I say it?)

Artistically, you have frozen the motion of the rally car with a fast shutter speed. Indeed, if it wasn't for the dust* being thrown up behind, I think I could be forgiven for thinking the car was parked. You have positioned the car centrally in the frame, whereas the textbooks say that it should have been placed left of centre so that it would have space to move into. By the way, an alternative treatment of this subject would be panning, introducing motion blur into the photograph.

Finally, I find your digital manipulation interesting. Your sepia-toning has produced an old-fashioned photograph of a new-fangled jalopy.

*On second thoughts, considering the prevailing weather conditions, it isn't dust, is it?
