Lovely shot Chris; great the way the cloud shadow has left the wreck in silhouette against the bright water

Certainly has the feel of a cold day, like the composition and good light on the headland.

A very different sort of f/g interest this time, Chris. Despite the sun on the headland there, I can believe how cold it must have been.

Hi Christine
I am using your full name because of the comment yesterday, they thought you were a man, had the same problem with emails because I used to end by saying Trevor and Chris, people thought I was Gay, I now use my Wifes full name Christine!
About the Photo, there are several wrecks on this beach, I think this is the Helvitia! The wreck of the Halvetia has been at Rhossili since 1887, wrecked during a severe Gale. The ship laden with 500 tons of Oak which reportedly made the locals very rich from the salvage. The ship can seen from mid to low tide.
Excellent light and tones, and composition as usual spot on!

Thanks Trev for that bit of info - had been meaning to look on the net to see what I could find out about it - no need now, thanks ! It certainly had a most haunting feel to the area, quite strange.

Chris (Was only ever called Christine when my mother was telling me off for something) lol !

Dark, brooding and mysterious, like the skeleton of a ship rising from the sand.
I just cannot imagine this taken in bright sunlight, wouldn't have anything like the same impact.

Have never seen it from this angle or the beach come to think of it...nice one.

Did you go looking for the anchor too?

Thanks Al - This isn't the wreck that's in the centre of the beach, we found this one to the left by the rocks when the tide was out - didn't go looking for the anchor, it was far too cold !

The low POV works splendidly with this Chris, as does the very different light between f/g and b/g, by the way that 500 tons of oak Trev mentioned probably came from Canadian forests, as it was the custom way back then to build ships, load them up with timber and sail them to Britain, where the ship and cargo would both be sold! That's why you have to go to the west coast to find any decent size old trees in Canada.

I'm afraid I must admit I do not think this photograph is up to your usual standard. But, that said, your usual standard is extremely high, so high that really you are in a different league to the likes of me. I mean, I would be very pleased with myself if I'd have taken this photograph. So, it is still worth my vote.
