Enjoyed all of the pictures with number one being the jewel in the crown. Think this poor little boy capture oozes with emotion, the low lighting has produced beautiful modelling, and the whole package works extremely well for me. With Christmas being a sentimental time of the year I think your selection of uploads over the past days leading up to Christmas have been super. Very well done.

In my book this EC award couldn’t go to a more deserving and hard working person Bernie and more so enjoying your recent uploads during these days leading up to Christmas. Your images are always very much enjoyed by many of us EPZ members including me.
EPZ Pete - Super selection for an EC - couldn’t agree with you more.

I like the images Bernie, the mono is just the job. The first one is especially strong in my mind. Also - sorry to hear of your grand daughters troubles.
I know I may be criticised for even mentioning this, but put my mind at rest by letting me know that the correct permissions were sought for this serise (I can't image you getting even close without, but I've seen too many cases in the past (not on here)).
Merry Christmas,
Adam

If you take photos that evoke emotion you must expect an emotional response.
My emotion is based on 27 years of teaching children with disabilities.
I'm happy to continue a debate - is an issue far too close to my heart to be totally rational though!!
Merry Christmas to you too. And remember - if you post a shot of a sunrise you'll get a lot of people going ooh and ahhh. Post a shot like this and you get responses from people who have been touched from a place deep inside. That is good - the debate that follows is good too.

Yes I understand that and I am aware of issues that may arise from my emotional images but I portayed them as I found them, and uploaded on this site to create awareness of the disabilities that these children who I became very attached too have to live through. The person in charge allowed me to take this and they received full copies to be put up in this place. Im sorry if we or I have misunderstood the comments, take care.

Many years ago I ran a voluntary club for young people with learning difficulties alongside other young people who helped through their friendship.
I took countless photographs and know how much they love to see themselves. I appreciate the need for permission to publish and preserving dignity but only in the same way that we should be sensitive about any personal pictures posted here.
Thanks for posting, it's a worthy POTW and well worth dusting off those negs.
My thoughts are with you and your family. I hope Christmas brings good news.

Thanks Penny, I think I got upset because I thought a person thought I was degrading these children and that I would never do, I was too affected by their plight, I enjoyed my time with them and it was a priviledge to photograph them, thanks for your comments I too hope that my news is good, happy christmas Penny.

A very humbling series of pictures. It is always good to raise awareness and I think you have made a lot of people maybe think about perspective. It definately offered me some perspective Bernie and thanks for that. It is a sensitive issue and I can see by your comments that you could not have handled it better. Congrats on the award

These are hugely powerful, thought-provoking, humbling shots. It's not often that a photo-set leaves me with such hugely mixed emotions.
