The Canon seems to have a mind of its own, Kate.
Sometimes it refuses to cooperate if it thinks it won't be a good picture!

Well spotted as an opportunity!

you should go during the day Kate the Abbey is open no charge but there is a collection box and I think from memory this is the entrance during the day the south cloisters a fine shadow projection from the flood light

this really is lovely
di you only use autofocus??
or both?
we have alot of difficulty taking the picciesof the kids performing in the pub as the soft boxes and flash only come on when you press the button....still working on it

It is a very effective image with that large cast shadow so impressive, Kate.
Guess with such low light manual focusing might be needed but I know that with my indifferent eyesight for me that too would be difficult.......so I rely on autofocus almost exclusively. But it is a challenge and makes capturing the shot that more interesting, and here you have succeeded so well.

I quite often have to set my focus on manual. Low light, macro. This is a wonderful shadow image Kate.
