South Stack Lighthouse - Angelsey

By Irishkate
We climbed down 400 steps to this lighthouse - not easy going down round angled corners but my goodness coming up again showed us how unfit some of us were! you will see that the light does work.

The South Stack Lighthouse is built on the summit of a small island off the north-west coast of Holy Island, Anglesey, Wales. It was built in 1809 to warn ships of the dangerous rocks below. Wikipedia

Many thanks for V&C for On the Beach.

I had intended to visit Angelsey this spring... Everyone tells me that it's beautiful. Lock-down ruined it for me...
Thank you for sharing this breathtaking oceanic image Kate... BRAVA !!

Lovely shot of South Stack, Kate. Now, this has brought back some fond memories......I remember going there on a School Trip back in the 1960s, young and fit back then😁😂🤣!!!!

I must admire your dedication to getting a photograph, descending some 400 steps and back up again! I might have got down, but not sure about getting back up! At least you did obtain a stunning image of the lighthouse for your effort, complete with light!

It's a stunning view from the top, and a fine capture here, Kate. I managed to get two or three shots of the actual light shining, but only after going down a few steps - would have been about 40, certainly not the 400 all the way to the bottom! Well done on achieving that! 😃👍

Lovely image and the steps make it well earned. When we were there last year a film crew were doing a documentary and we had to wait several hours for them to finish but so many places to walk and photograph we weren't bored Grin
