I was amased how the Coliseum was totally surrounded by roads and the modern day infrastructure. SOme how I felt it rather a shame that this magnificent building was somehow overshadowed by the chaos of the Roman traffic!

never been there but I heard the same from my friends who lived in Rome for awhile - still must be damn awe-inspiring to be there in the presence of that history
