    Quote:Intriguing shot ...

Looking at the shadow on the wall, the light seems to be coming from the right

But the shadow on the face suggests it's coming from the left?

    Oh well... I'll remain baffled

    Lovely shot though

Quote:You seem to get great sitters - and make wonderful pictures of them. If i ever make it into your studio, post Covid, I may be a scruffy disappointment...

First rule of portrait photography - you have to find your subject interesting. I don't care how well groomed or attractive people are.

Quote:She is a very expressive lady. I envy you the chance to photograph her: and the subtlety with which you have doe so.

She was a joy to work with.

Quote:A very different pose, I do like the 'corner' you have created.

Thanks. The corner was one of my lockdown projects. Took me about 4 days to do about 2 hours' work Smile

Quote:A fine portrait, love the light.
Interesting that the light band does not continue up the wall behind, so presumably it was not from a part open curtain or door - or was it simply that the background was added later ?

It's all fake! I used a Nanlite Forza300 with Fresnel attachment for the key light and then used some bits of card to flag it to make the shape of the slit of light hitting only the subject. The background is "real", as in it is a bit of fabric stretched over a pair of stage flats hinged to make a corner.

Quote:The light is lovely here, a very well chosen dof with detail where it matters.

Thanks. I've got 2 fill lights in this set up. Using them very carefully as I wanted it to feel like just 1 light.
