Absolutley beautiful shot. Great colours, great subject. First class. Has the feel of an old master oil painting.

  • Blubberhouses Moor

Thanks for the comments. Blubberhouses is a little settlement just North of Harrogate on the Skipton Road. This moor is most easily accesed from the spooky village of Timble just north of Otley. It's mountain bike heaven up here.

Maybe not to everyone's taste but I really like this dark, brooding, monotone type landscape. Maybe a bit heavy with the linear grad tool.

Thanks everyone. I've only just realised it was POTW. Must look more closely at the home page !

Mavis, a softbox is a huge (usually about 90cm x 90cm) square diffuser placed over studio flash that gives very soft, even illumination - just like this. Very popular with studio photographers.

  • norfolk creek at dusk

Has the look of soft brush work to it. Really like it.

  • Tranquility

It is a tranquil scene, but I agree with Michael. Generally a vertical compo gives a dynamic feel and a horizontal one a tranquil feel. The effect is a bit unsettling. I guess if you're shooting for book/magazine cover it's better. I guess there was something you wanted to keep out of shot to the L or R ? A bit of linear gradient tool to the sky would add some interest to it.

    Regards
