One of the best photos I've seen recently. You should find a suitable competition for it.

Ooh - like it! You could do a series of these, try different silhoettes with them in different positions - get that perfect seaside mood.

I say try different ones because I don't think this one is quite there (but with BAGS of potential), only because the girl holding the spade up seems a little aggressive. So - get her with spade down, holding hands is good too and bingo - a great stock photography shot!

Love this!

The cheery colors, the setting, the shadows of the two kids....wonderful.

i like it as it is but agree with Paul that there is loads of potential for you to explore further!!!

what a brilliant idea. i agree that this would have even more impact if you cropped the sky down to the top of the castle. love it. well done.

Timeless, well spotted. Pat has a point. The bright clouds tend to pull your eye up to the top of the frame. Brill image though.

Cheers for all the comments, couldn't quite get the pic I was after with the kids as they have an attention span of a goldfish! Lots of stuff wrong with the snap, sun too high, bucket and spade not in good enough position but about 20 mins after this snap was taken it was appearing on every national newspaper picture desk and managed to get it into the Guardian on Thursday. Newspapers wait for no man...the earlier the picture drops into their laps the better!

Nothing wrong with this shot at all. For me the fact that the spade points straight up at Bamburgh makes it all the better.

I like the action in the shot, nice mix of bright and pastel colors.
