He is a an ex Black Watch soldier who was telling his account of the Normandy Landings.

A slither of natural light through a very small opening in the curtains to light the subject.

Very nice portrait and I echo all the comments so far - plus - people like this that suffered and fought for our future need immortalising like this. It is a good thing to never let folks forget.

Good job.

I've got a row of medals almost exactly like that on my desk - they used to belong to my late father-in-law. Truly wonderful shot, and a great reminder. Thanks.

Great portrait with loads of character and those medals tell me he travelled a bit in Europe to.

Nicely captured. *click*

I believe the real story of the Normandy Landings is on TV wednesday 11/02/04
portrayed by the men who were actually there.

Wonderful evocative image. He looks really proud but also really sad in the corners of his eyes. The photo is technically superb as well.

Cheers Jage, it certainly brings home the reality of what these guys went through when you get to hear exactly what they did without the 'spin' from any outside parties such as the climate we live in today. And yes I'm talking about governments and media alike before anyone starts to call me a hypocrite!
