Woking the day job from Home

So having been working (IT Telecoms) from home a full month now i'm adjusting to the new normal. Luckily for us we have spent the last year getting used to office 365 and Microsoft teams ( FYI Skype and Teams and becoming interoperable later this month) as well as a decent corporate VPN back to the office infrastructure.
. We also had already had plenty of singular days of home working beforehand for many of our staff and also a DR plan that included epidemic considerations.

A big thing early on was a truly clear desk to work from and making it as comfortable as possible.

Beyond that, its routine routine routine. And for our household with a KS2 child, its routine for them too. They need to know you are busy and often in video meetings etc and need to not disturb you. Luckily ours its quite good at that most of the time.

Photographically its great to see the home surrounding through the light of a whole day, and lucky for us we have a garden to snap flowers in as well.

Likewise trying to work from home...with heavy reliance on “Office 365 - Microsoft Teams” ( a steep learning curve for old idiots like me...).

Are you saying that this “Teams” facility will be discontinued shortly..?

We/I’ll be back to cleft stick and carrier pigeons if so...Tongue

Hi Kevin,
No we are OK, Teams is like the big brother of Skype and will gradually take over for home users as well. You are safe with Teams Smile
Good luck, stay safe.

Are you enjoying NOT having to commute into work ?
At least it does not take too long to get " home " from work in the evenings Smile

I had to look up what a KS2 child was !

Nothing like that in my schooldays just : infant, junior, senior which had forms ( years ) 1 to 5 and possibly a 6th form.
5th year was exams CSE & GCE O Level and 6th GCE A Level.

Except I left school end 5th year and went to a college of technology for additional O & then A Levels.

Hi Jeff, LOL i know - the KS1,2,3 ranges were alien to me too. Also like you I went to a College of technology to do a BTEC in Electronics, only then did i get the education bug and found the value of revision.

I do enjoy not commuting as a must, though also miss seeing the world around me - yep the commute home at the moment is amazing Wink.
