Thanks for all your comments, Lianna i did it with water drops on a unused DVD that was lit from the side. A bit like your sunset in the sky photo, the light gets diffused and graduates accross the surface. In photoshop elements i added a slight vignette and a border.

A lot of people messing with DVD's at the moment on here. Just as well too as we (the viewer's) benefit by the wonderful images displayed such as this one. Great abstract Stuart.

Very effective and interesting shot, like Mary must give it a try. Don't know anthing about snoot lighting? though.

thanks even more for your comments, dave, a snoot is just a cone type shape that directs light in just one direction so that its easier to light a specific area.
