I think the lighting technique has worked a treat here - it's made for a lovely warm, well balanced light and the highlights are a delight.
I'm no expert on Still Life, my attempt was a first for me, so can't really offer much in advice... but the baclk background works with the warm, yellowy red tones - far better than a white one would ahve done.
the inclusion of the sliced fruit works well, lets us see inside the fruit, but also adds a whole new texture etc. to the shot.

Absolutely stunning. I love gold reflectors for the warmth of colour they create. This is a beautiful image and as Ade said the sliced fruit adds to the scene. If there is anything I could add, but again not take anything away from your image as you may have wanted the effect, there is shadow on the right side of the plate whereas the left side is brightly lit. Only an observation as I think this is superbly lit. Hope you don't mind.

Really appreciating all the feedback thanks, i agree Jane the shadow unbalences the shot, next time i shall use a silver reflector to bounce the gold light back into the shadow area, maybe slighty behind the fruit so as not to add another hightlight area. I was being lazy and was hand holding the flash and brolly so had ran out of hands and the stands were in a cupboard upstairs.
To crit myself i'd have liked a tiny flash unit hidden behind in slave move to fire some white light at the edges of the fruit to see if this helped define them out from the background.

That's a super shot, love the very natural colour rendition achieved of the fruit and the dark background! However, I think it should benefit much in the way of breaking the symmetry and the set-up effect, if the sliced one could have been placed turning it a bit sideways! Still, it's a super photo!
