Hello everyone, thank you for looking at my portfolio. I hope you'll find plenty to like here, it's a mixture of new with some reworked older photos. I try many different subjects from landscapes through urban & street photography to abstract, but not so much formal portraiture or studio work.
What I like about photography is that it's a continuos learning process, always something to discover and try out. I'm essentially self-taught and will shoot almost anything if in the mood.
Thanks for looking, and feel free to leave comments.

An original idea Janet, well executed.I like the rust on the old padlocks, the random marble and the blurred keys behind give a sense of depth to the image. Definitely the colour version for me, it's essentially monochromatic anyway.

There should be an easier way

Eye of a Horse
Super close up, Ron. The eye really holds one's gaze.

Harris Hawk
Super bird portrait, Phil. This one really looks mean. Good detail and colour in the plumage.

stacked pansy
Lovely light and blooms. The focus stacking has given a 3D effect, really separating the pansies from the blurred background.

Washing shadows
Quote:The b&w is more about the shadows and shapes, where the colour does soften the approach somewhat and, perhaps, over complicates it.
Thanks for your comment.
I see your point, in fact, I almost posted the B&W as the lead (perhaps I should have done!), it's more to my taste too.

In character
Nice atmospheric image, John. Geoff reminds me of Spike Milligan in this pose. Splendid shadow too.

Love your steam loco shots. I used to "train spot" at Basingstoke on what I believe was the last steam hauled main line in the country, so saw locos working properly and usually pretty grubby!
Your other photos are great too.
