bending together

By jacomes
I spent some time looking for today's upload, finally settling on this . The comms tower and the tree striving to meet as they reach upwards.
On looking at my first photos from the G5X I noticed a strong distortion and some vignetting on the widest zoom setting (8.8mm), at first annoyed I decided to use the distortion creatively. So this shot is, apart from a small crop, direct from the camera's raw image.
(The in camera jpeg and DxO's auto correction do straighten things up and lose the vignette, so all is not lost, just unexpected)

Certainly a creative use of an unexpected effect.

Looks like it's taken with a fisheye lens. Like how the tower and the tree seem to be in conversation! 😁 Has much more impact than had both been straight 😃

at first i thought you were using the inbuilt fisheye filter that every pocket-size Canon has...normally it has 3 gradations: Low, Medium and High... whatever, the distortions turned out to be story telling for this subject matter..a clever and effective shot Smile

A case of the man-made tower mimicking nature...if it's good enough for the trees to bend, then that's how we'll build the tower...

Interesting contrast of the metallic and the pine tree...
