May I suggest the 7D? I use the 7D and have a 30D and 400D as back-up. I would buy a second 7D.

I have many Canon lenses: EF-S17-55IS, EF-S10-22, EF70-300DO IS, EF85 f1.8 , EF-S60 macro, EF100f2.8 USM.
I like the compact and tough looking Nikon body , just curious any one uses this Nikon as a Canon back up?
