Bishop Sherborne (1508 - 36) commissioned Lambert Barnard to paint all the ceilings. They are believed to have been painted in the mid 1530's. Most of the painting was scrubbed off - I have mixed information as to who by - but I'll add who by when I know for sure.
This and a small area in the South Aisle are all that remain. It is believed that this area was saved because the library had been moved here at the time and the books made this area inaccessible.
