Snow

By James_C
Hi everyone. Well I don't think my last effort was very good so hopefully this one will do better. I took this picture looking across the cathedral green towards the cloisters at Chichester Cathedral. I've cloned out the litter bin that was rather prominantly in the foreground and tweeked the colours and contrast a little. Otherwise its pretty much as I saw it.

I hope you like it. As always comments and criticism are greatfully recieved.

Thanks for looking.

James

Its has a nice, almost Christmasy feel to it.

It can be a challenge to shoot snow, as the camera tends to underexpose, causing the show to be off-white. Loaded a mod with the snow a little whiter.

Must be seen LARGE to appreciate the full beauty of the photo with the falling snow. Very beautiful! JNC

Thanks Willie, I had done a whiter version but felt it made the picture a bit harsh so went back a bit. Still unsure about it, particularly having seen your version.

Thanks Jean-Noel. I'm no good in the heat and thought this might help cool me down a bit Wink

This image has such good "bones" that it actually looks great in all versions. It reminds me of a fine etching or wood block print. Excellent. It would make a remarkable greeting card. Very nice work. v2 by a hair!

Unusual to see a winter scene in August but hey it's good one so why not .
I do like Banehawi 's mod idea of adding a very subtle warm colouring to the sky as it takes away tha starkness up there.
Good minimal colouring elsewhere works really well , many on here would have overcooked it .

Superb !

Many thanks Joline, Sandy and Sam. I do agree with you about overcooking Sam - particularly with HDR images.
