A Pious Man

By James_C
Good morning everyone,

Thank you all for your very kind compliments and clicks on my last upload. It is very much appreciated.

Today's upload is of a memorial in the "New Building" of Peterborough Cathedral. I think perhaps Thomas Deacon Esq. had a very high opinion of himself... Versions 2 & 3 are crops to the text so that you can judge for yourselves his great deeds.
It amuses me that the "New Building" , which was added behind the High Alter in order to provide a processional route round the cathedral, was added in the 14th century.
I shall return to the body of this wonderful Cathedral with my next upload.

Thank you for looking.

Kind regards,

James

Pin-sharp details in all 3 images. My kind of thing, really, as I love history and have only just finished re-reading all the Cadfael novels. "Your" benefactor certainly reminds me of some of the characters in them! The entire memorial is in beautiful condition.

Sort of puts chase to the Biblical directions to give alms in secret!
He does look like quite a character, and a very dramatic one at that.
Excellent photos all.
